Spring is Here! Officially this week...and we are all "stuck" at home. What better time to get out and garden?! As you are aware, this is our busiest season of the year. We wait all year for the crazy spring! The coronavirus has really messed with all of our plans and we are all taking the warnings and recommendations seriously.
We are two "healthy" family run businesses that primarily operate outside. We rely on our spring business to keep our businesses running throughout the entire year. It is essential to our families (as with many small, local businesses) to keep our doors open as long as possible, while still keeping our employees and customers safe. With this in mind, we are navigating this COVID-19 pandemic with open minds and creating protocols to keep everyone safe, while trying to keep our doors open. We re-evaluate our situation and decisions daily.
In an effort to comply with local restrictions and quarantine suggestions, we have cleaning protocols and social distancing in place to protect everyone we care about. We are also offering several purchasing options to our customers:
- We will remain open while we can, with our protocols in place. Drive in, pick out your plants, tell us what store items you may need (fertilizer, weed/insect sprays, soils, etc) and we will load you up. You can pay outside with cash or credit card, not even having to enter our store. Minimal contact needed. Just express your wishes to the employee so that we may assist you.
- We will offer a FREE local delivery service of items within a 5 mile radius of the store (especially for the elderly and immunocompromised). Deliveries within a 5-10mile radius will incur a $20 delivery fee. $50 minimum must be spent to qualify for free delivery. Orders may be called in and paid for over the phone with credit cards. This will be for items that we can fit in our delivery vans or pickup trucks. Deliveries will be made on specified days (probably Thursdays). We will alter delivery times based on demand and needs.
- Mulch and Topsoil deliveries will be delivered on Friday and Saturdays this year with the same delivery fees and prices as last year. (Please Note: Free Delivery does NOT pertain to bulk items)
- If you are in need of any landscaping work, please keep our landscaping company in mind. Chesco Landscaping is a 2nd generation company run by Matt Kurtz. They are also feeling the crunch as this pandemic is affecting all of us financially. What is usually a very busy time of year for our successful and trusted landscaping company, has gotten off to a very slow start. Please call the garden center (610) 495-2870 to set-up a time for Matt, Brianna, or Bryan to come out and give you a free estimate. You may discuss payment options or credit card payment with them directly.
- Our flower shop is still open, especially for local delivery. Feel free to shop our website for cut flowers, houseplants and even mixed perennial baskets.
As a small business, we really need and appreciate your business. Remember, this isn't going to last forever and we are all in it together. These times can bring out the best in us so let's make this a time to remember for our family, friends and neighbors. Make special memories with the kids while they are home. Involve them in planting and spring clean-up (We have great memories doing this with our own parents!)
Here are some other great ideas:
- Start Seeds
- Plant a Veggie Garden
- Paint Rocks
- Study the Birds
- Make a Terrarium
- Plant flowers in pots or in your garden beds
- Create a Fairy or Leprechaun Garden
- Build a Tree House or Fort
- Just be outside- walking, riding bikes, playing and getting fresh air.
And when you see one another-
SMILE, BE KIND, BE THANKFUL and PRAY FOR A HEALTHY TOMORROW
We wish you good health and many blessings,
The Kurtz Family and our Staff at Achin' Back & Chesco Landscaping
